The Life Behind the Designs
There is a version of my life that people see—the designer, the founder, the creative behind the brand.
And then there is the version of my life that happens quietly, behind the scenes.
The one that requires balance I never trained for.
Wearing More Than One Title
I am the Founder and Designer of my own company.I am a wife.I am a dog mom.And I am a caregiver to my mother-in-law, who is living with dementia and recently underwent hip surgery after a fall.
Each of these roles requires something different from me.Each one demands time, energy, patience, and presence.
And the truth is—there is no perfect way to balance it all.
The Reality Behind the Schedule
Running a design company alone is already a full-time responsibility. There are no clock-out hours. Creativity does not pause, and neither do client needs, deadlines, or expectations.
But caregiving adds another layer—one that cannot be scheduled or controlled.
There are moments when I am working on a design and need to stop immediately. Moments where safety becomes the priority. Moments where patience is tested in ways that have nothing to do with fashion.
And still, the work must continue.
The Emotional Weight of Caregiving
Caring for someone with dementia is not just physical—it is emotional.
You are present not only for who they are, but for who they once were. You learn to move with unpredictability. You learn to adjust your expectations daily.
After her recent fall and hip surgery, the level of care increased. There are now more responsibilities, more attention required, and more moments where I have to step away from my work.
And yet, I show up.
Marriage, Support, and Partnership
Being a wife in the middle of all of this has taught me the importance of partnership.
There are days when the balance feels uneven. Days when work takes more from me. Days when caregiving does. Days when I feel like I am being pulled in every direction.
But having someone who understands, supports, and stands beside you makes a difference.
You realize quickly—you cannot carry everything alone.
The Small Joys That Keep Me Grounded
In the middle of all the responsibility, there are small moments that bring balance back.
My dogs.Their energy.Their presence.Their ability to bring comfort without words.
They remind me to pause, even if just for a moment.
What Balance Really Looks Like
Balance is not perfection.
It is not having everything evenly divided or controlled.
Balance, for me, looks like:
Creating when I can
Resting when I need to
Showing up where I am most needed in that moment
Giving myself grace when everything doesn’t get done
Some days I am more designer than anything else. Some days I am more caregiver. Some days I am simply trying to make it through.
And that is enough.
Still Creating Through It All
Even with everything on my plate, I continue to design.
Not because it is easy—but because it is part of who I am.
Design is not separate from my life. It exists within it.
It lives in the quiet moments. In the late nights. In the pauses between responsibilities.
It is my constant.
Final Thoughts
Balancing all of these roles is not something I have mastered.
It is something I am learning every day.
To every founder, every creative, every caregiver, every person carrying more than one role—you are not alone.
There is strength in showing up, even when it feels overwhelming.
And there is power in continuing to create, even when life demands so much from you.
Because behind every design, there is a life being lived.
And this is mine.
