Why I Create for Longevity, Not Social Media Applause

In today’s fashion world, it’s easy to confuse visibility with value.

We live in a time where a design can go viral overnight, gain thousands of likes, and disappear just as quickly. Trends move at lightning speed. Aesthetic shifts happen weekly. Designers are pressured to produce faster, louder, and more “Instagrammable” work just to stay relevant.

But I don’t design for likes.I design for legacy.

The Difference Between Attention and Impact

Attention is temporary.Impact is lasting.

Likes are instant gratification. They feed the ego, not the archive. Legacy, on the other hand, is built slowly — piece by piece, season by season, client by client.

When I design, I’m not asking, “Will this get engagement?”I’m asking, “Will this still matter five years from now?”

Will this garment be remembered?Will it still feel powerful when trends shift?Will my client look back and say, this was timeless?

That is the standard I hold myself to.


Couture Is Not Meant to Be Disposable

Fast fashion thrives on urgency. Luxury thrives on intention.

Couture, made-to-order design, and limited ready-to-wear are not meant to be scrolled past in seconds. They are meant to be felt, experienced, worn with meaning.

When I sit with a client one-on-one, I’m not creating content — I’m creating a moment in their life story. A wedding. A milestone. A transformation. A statement.

Those moments are bigger than algorithms.

Building Something That Outlives Me

Legacy isn’t just about clothing. It’s about building a brand that stands for something.

When people speak about Maison de Stoi or my work as a designer, I don’t want them to talk about viral moments. I want them to talk about craftsmanship, integrity, boldness, inclusivity, and devotion to the art.

Legacy means:

  • Designing for real bodies

  • Protecting the value of my work

  • Standing firm in pricing

  • Choosing artistry over shortcuts

  • Creating shows that feel intentional

  • Uplifting other designers instead of competing

Legacy is slow. And slow can feel frustrating in a world that rewards speed.

But slow is sustainable.


The Pressure to Perform

Social media creates invisible pressure.

You see other brands launching weekly drops. You see curated studios and glamorous workspaces. You see viral success stories that make it look effortless.

What you don’t see:

  • The late nights

  • The doubt

  • The financial strain

  • The rebuilding

  • The perseverance

Designing for legacy means continuing even when the applause is quiet.

It means trusting that depth will outlast noise.


Why I Refuse to Chase Trends

Trends fade. Vision evolves.

If I chased every trend, my brand would lose its identity. My work would become reactive instead of intentional.

I would rather build slowly and authentically than grow quickly and forget who I am.

Because when you build on authenticity, you don’t have to reinvent yourself every season. You refine. You strengthen. You deepen.

That is legacy.

Final Thoughts

Likes are fleeting.

Legacy is deliberate.

I am not building for the moment.I am building for the archive.For the clients who trust me.For the designers who come after me.For the story that continues long after the screen refreshes.

Designing for legacy requires patience, discipline, and belief in something bigger than attention.
